Suspended License Eastpointe

Home » General » Suspended License Eastpointe

These cops in the City of Eastpointe gave me a ticket for a suspended license or DWLS he said.  I am not sure why they stopped me but they mentioned that I looked suspisious drivings over the border on 8MILE.  I love the city of Eastpointe and Macomb County.  These fools arrested me rather then giving me a ticket like they do in Detroit.  In Detroit thye just give you a ticket but Eastpointe they found weed after they arrested me.  What am I supposed to do.  canmy license get suspended longer and how do I get my license back ????

I owe a ton of money to the 36th district court in Detroit and I know Judge Gerds in Eastpointe just puts people in jail if they dont pay!!!!!  Judge Gerds I heard is one tough judge he dont give no one a break.

Thank you for your Michigan suspended driver’s license question on Canu Torrice Law’s free legal blog at http://www.AllLegalMatters.com.

In short, you would be wise to hire a attorney for your Driving While License Suspended (DWLS) charge in the 38th Judicial District Court for Eastpointe, Michigan, especially if they found marijuana.

Many defendants mistakenly believe that driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license in Michigan is merely a “traffic ticket” but this is incorrect. In Michigan, driving on a suspended or revoked license (DWLS / DWLR) is a misdemeanor offense under Michigan law that also carries 2 points on your driving record. For a first offense driving on a suspended driver’s license DWLS / DWLR, the penalties are possible imprisonment in the county jail for up to 93 days and/or a fine of not more than $500.00, or both, plus court costs (which vary from court to court and many times equal or exceed the maximum fine).

Possession of Marijuana in the City of Eastpointe may be written as a City of Eastpointe ordinance or a State of Michigan violation. This is important because it can either carry a maximum sentence of 1 year in jail or 93 days in jail. Additionally, you may have the opportunity to have this case dismissed completely from your record by using a statute called 7411.

You are also correct about Judge Gerds in the City of Eastpointe. If you do not have your fines and costs ready to be paid at the date and time of sentencing there is a possibility that he may incarcerate you in the Macomb County Jail pursuant to the Michigan Court Rules. Judge Gerds is a no nonsense judge and does not put up with people who drive with a suspended license through Eastpointe and show up to court without any money.
