I’m very concerned and worried about my recent DWSL ticket. I was driving home from my first day of work when caught in the moment of excitement made a stupid mistake of not making a complete stop at a malfunctioning blinking red traffic light . A Royal Oak cop happened to witness it and gave me a citation for blinking light and a misdemeanor ticket for DWLS. I had my arraignment yesterday – pleaded not guilty and requested a lawyer. I’m currently on probation in Oak Park for a DUI. My license is suspended because this is my 2nd offense. I am extremely regretful of my decision to drive that day, and felt I had no choice when my ride failed to show up and it was my first day . I know the judge will just see this as an excuse and have heard nothing but horror stories about the judges at the 44th judicial court. Can you please give me advice on what I can expect ?!

There are many issues that you have regarding this DWLS. You could violate your probation with getting this ticket, which could be worse than the actual ticket.
The best thing for you to do is to make sure you avoid receiving an abstractable offense to your driving record. If this happens you will receive another like revocation due to your second OWI.
I am assuming your license is suspended for having two OWI’s within 7 years. Ultimately, after the 1 year revocation you may ask for your drivers license back, which we can help you with. Another option you may want to explore is sobriety court.
Nevertheless, you need to make sure you have an experienced lawyer handle your DWLS in the City of Royal Oak. If something is not handled properly you risk losing your license for longer and having more of an issue for violating your probation.
