Quick question about a traffic ticket in Sterling Heights for one of the attorneys at alllegalmatters.com / Canu Torrice Law . . . is there someplace I can reference to see how many points are associated with certain traffic tickets and offenses?  Just curious.

Also, I did something stupid and just paid a speeding ticket I got about a month ago in Sterling Heights, Michigan, now I received notice from the Michigan Secretary of State about a driver’s responsibility fee . . . is is too late to fight this ticket???  How many more fees are they gonna hit me with?

Thanks guys.

Thank you for your question on ALLEGALMATTERS.COM. Here is a link to the current points under various traffic offenses in Michigan:

Also, here is a link to our main website that has more information about the difference between criminal and traffic cases, and a link to the full list of fees under Michigan’s Driver Responsibility Law:

The fact that you received notice about a driver’s responsibilty fee after paying this ticket means that you have accumulated 7 or more “points” on your driver’s license. That’s not good. Not only will you have to pay Driver’s Responsibility Fees now imposed by the Sectretary of State, but you insurance rates will suffer. Every point you accumulate on your driver’s license now will only result in more driver’s responsibility fees. There is good news though because ALLLEGALMATTERS.COM and the attorneys at Canu Torrice Law can help.

Your question is similar to that of another person who posted today about a traffic ticket in the Clinton Township, Michigan. Setting aside traffic tickets and re-opening closed traffic cases varies in difficulty from court to court because there are restrictions under Michigan Court Rules about re-opening traffic cases once they are plead, and by paying your fine, you by default tendered a plea of responsible to the speeding ticket. However, depending on the court, Canu Torrice Law can often file the necessary paperwork and motion the court to set that plea aside, re-open your case, and then get your ticket dismissed or re-negotiate your case to a zero (0) point, non-abstractable offense that will NOT appear on your driving record.

In the 41-A Judicial District Court in Sterling Heights this would not be an issue for Canu Torrice Law. Like most courts in Macomb County, the attorneys from Canu Torrice Law are in the Sterling Heights District Court all the time, and we are very familiar with the Judges, Prosecutors, and City Attorneys in that court. Although you need to come in the office for a free consultation, I do not see a problem in filing a motion to set-aside your plea in this traffic ticket in Sterling Heights. Once we do this, all those points currently on your record can be removed, and your driving record will be cleared.

Please feel free to contact http://www.ALLEGALMATTERS.com or call Canu Torrice Law at (586) 285-1700 to schedule a free consulatation with one of our traffic attorneys right away. However, take notice that setting aside pleas on traffic tickets tht you simply paid for is a time sensitive matter, so do NOT wait or it might be too late to keep your driving record clean.

  2. For real, I swear I have had 20 tickets in the last 5 years and not 1 point on my record because of these guys – think I’m lying, ask anyone in the area and they will tell you who the best attorneys are. I am here to say that my Honda CBR600 has been far more trouble and money than it was worth, but my driving record doesnt show it – 3 careless drivings, 2 fleeing and eluding charges, and god knows how many speeding tickets and my record is remarkably clean – several of these tickets were in Sterling Heights, the rest were in Clinton Township, Shelby, Warren, Utica, etc. – these lawyers do a perfect job every time.

  3. Thank you Tony, you know the scoop better than anyone I think. You can also tell people that the BEST thing they can do is call the attorneys at Canu Torrice Law immediately when they get a traffic ticket so we can get involved before the ticket goes into default, or it becomes too late and they just “pay the fine” to avoid having their driver’s license suspended.

If you have a traffic ticket in Sterling Heights, or anywhere else in Macomb County or anywhere in the State of Michigan, call Canu Torrice Law at (586) 285-1700 today for a FREE CONSULTATION.

    Thanks for the props Tony.
