Unfair Treatment of Son in Michigan Prison

Home » General » Unfair Treatment of Son in Michigan Prison

A little more than 3 years ago my son was sentenced to 10 years in Michigan prison for a violent crime, he has been in the Michigan Prison system ever since and i believe he has been receiving unfair treatment and inhumane treatment.  In the last 5 months I have noticed that his health has been declining rapidly, weight loss, and he is always tired.  His symptoms seem to me to be similar to Leukemia symptoms.  In letters he sends he complains about barely being able to get out of his cell some days.  He has told the prison staff that he has headaches all the time and he has a painful and swollen belly.

He has asked for medical treatment many times and is either not allowed to see a doctor or they delay the amount of time until he sees one.  The one time he saw a doctor they noticed he had swollen lymph nodes but told him it was nothing serious. The medical treatment in prison has been terrioble to say the least.

I believe he must see a doctor immediately or something really bad could happen to his health and that the Michigan Prison system is letting my son die. If its something like leukemia and can be treated I want him to get immediate treatment. I want to know if i can sue the Michigan Prison or what my best option is for the unfair treatment of a Michigan prisoner.

The good news is that you can sue the Michigan Prison system and the Prison Health Services, the health care provider for prisoners in Michigan. At Canu Torrice Law, I have experience representing those who have experienced unfair treatment and are suffering from untreated illnesses within the Michigan Prison System. This experience includes work done within the State Courts of Michigan and Federal Courts of the United States.

There are different options that can be pursued in this matter involving your son and the state of Michigan. I would like to go over these options with you so that we can give your son the chance to live a healthy life that he deserves regardless of whether or not he is a prisoner. Michigan is not a death penalty state and the Michigan Prison system cannot give a Michigan prisoner a death sentence because he is sick and incarcerated.

Since this is a very time-sensitive and personal situation I strongly advise that you call my office immediately at (586)285-1700 and schedule an appointment for a free consultation. A situation involving a sick individual within the Michigan prison system who is not receiving proper care requires urgent attention.

Also, if you have any questions that need to be answered immediately please continue to frequent the Canu Torrice Law website, http://www.AllLegalMatters.com, and your question will be answered promptly.
