Burned at work

Home » General » Burned at work

I used to work at restaurant in Grosse Pointe. While their, another coworker burned me with a coffe pot. It was pretty bad. I never went to the doctor and just let it heal on it’s own. I was told it was probably a 2nd or 3rd degree burn. I have a two nice bigs scars from this on my arm now. My question is, is it too late to sue for this. It’s been 4 months now. Also, if I can sure, can I sue the coworker and the owner?

Thanks

It is not too late to file a claim. Your remedy would be through workers compensation and potentially to sue the coworker directly. However, the question you always have to think about is the value on your damages and the potential liability. A couple scars may not necessarily get you that much compensation, especially because I am assuming you were able to continue to work and never went to the doctor. It’s different if you fell off a ladder at work and broke your leg.

That said, there are many other considerations to be made in potentially filing a claim. Remember, a lawyer will usually take 1/3 of what you get out of the judgment, so it has to be worth the lawyers time as well. My suggestion is that you contact our office immediately and we will get you with our personally injury/workers compensation attorney to come in for a free consultation. Thanks for your post.
