Andrew M. Canu graduated from Michigan State
University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science/Pre-Law from the College of Social Science in
June 1991.Thereafter he earned his Jurist Doctorate at the Detroit College of Law at
Michigan State University in 1996.
While attending the Detroit College of Law at
Michigan State University, Andrew
M. Canu worked full-time as a Law Clerk at the law firm of Ferriby & Houston, P.C. He assisted attorneys in
case preparation at all stages of litigation and attended and prepared for numerous trials in a personal injury law
firm with litigation in both Federal and State Courts. Cases involved medical malpractice defense, insurance
defense, premises liability, auto negligence, products liability, commercial law, criminal law and class
actions.
Also, while attending law school, he was a Law Intern for three Judges in the Wayne County Circuit Court:
Honorable Judge Richard P. Hathaway, Honorable Judge Michael Stacey, and Honorable Judge John H. Gillis,
Jr.
Immediately upon graduation from law school, Andrew M. Canu formed the law firm of Canu, Fabiano, Gies
& Toombs, P.L.L.C. and acted as the Managing Partner in the general practice law firm handing all aspects of
criminal felony and misdemeanor representation, probation violating hearings, traffic, driver’s license
restorations and revocation appeals, as well as civil matters including divorce and family law, will preparation,
personal injury, auto negligence, medical malpractice, premises liability, construction/contractor liability,
commercial law, collection matters, creating/advising small businesses, bankruptcy, landlord/tenant and real
estate. He managed cases in all phases of litigation and trial.
As a highly sought after attorney, Andrew M. Canu was recruited by the law firm of Peter J. Lucido, P.C.
in May of 2000. He instantly became the Managing Attorney of the Criminal and Driver’s License Restoration
Departments. Moreover, he excelled in felony and misdemeanor Trials and has achieved numerous acquittals for his
clients. Additionally, he continued to practice divorce and family law, as well as other civil litigation areas

Peter A. Torrice graduated from Michigan State
University with a Bachelors of Arts in Finance in 2001 from the highly accredited Eli Broad College of Business
Administration.
Immediately after graduating from Michigan State University, Peter A. Torrice attended the
University of Detroit Mercy School of Law where he graduated with a Juris Doctor in 2004. Peter A. Torrice attended
Grosse Pointe elementary and secondary schools, where he graduated from Grosse Pointe North High School in
1997.
During his attendance at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law Peter A. Torrice was awarded the
Service Award by the Dean for his service to the Law School Community in 2003. Prior to attending the University of
Detroit Mercy School of Law, Peter A. Torrice served as a law clerk for Attorney Stephen Rabaut. While attending
law school Peter A. Torrice was employed as a law clerk at Lucido & Fischer, P.C. Additionally, during his
attendance at law school he worked for the County of Macomb as a law clerk for Circuit Court Judge Matthew
Switalski. As a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Matthew Switalski of the 16th Judicial Circuit Court, Peter A.
Torrice received a Certificate of Appreciation Award for both years of 2003 and 2004.
Upon graduation in 2004, Peter A. Torrice began his own law practice as Peter A. Torrice, PLLC. In 2006
Peter A. Torrice joined with his former associate, attorney Paul J. Zalewski, to form a new law firm called the Law

J. Zalewski attended private Catholic schools for his elementary and secondary education, and graduated from the

List at Wayne State University for five consecutive semesters with a 4.0 G.P.A.; the Award of Honor and High
Achievement at the 36th Judicial District Court's Handgun Intervention Program in 1996 as chief law clerk to the
Honorable Judge Willie G. Lipscomb, Jr.; the Top Brief Writing Award and the Top Advocate Award in the Arthur Neef
Memorial Moot Court Competition in 1997-1998 at Wayne State University School of Law; the Best Appellate Brief
Award in the Legal Writing and Research Program at Wayne State University School of Law in 1998; the 1st Place

Paul J. Zalewski began his legal career as the chief law clerk to the Honorable Judge Willie G. Lipscomb,
Jr. at the 36th Judicial District Court in Detroit, Michigan from 1994 -1995. His recognition and
achievements in this position resulted in his employment with National Institute of Justice, an arm of the
United States Department of Justice, through the nationally recognized research organizations of The Urban
Institute and Weststat in Washington, D.C., where he was employed as the Lead Research Assistant in a
study of the 36th Judicial District Court's Handgun Intervention Program in Detroit, Michigan from 1996-1998.
